RoboSport - E-Robot 500 g Sumo

RoboSport - E-Robot 500 g Sumo
The E-Robot 1kg Sumo is an autonomous robotics competition where two robots battle inside a circular sumo arena (Dohyo). The objective is to detect, engage, and push the opponent out of the ring without any human intervention after the match begins. Participants are challenged to design intelligent robots that combine mechanical strength, strategic programming, and reliable sensing systems to achieve victory.
Age Categories
Primary School (7 to12 years old)
Secondary School (13 to 18 years old )
Adults (18 years old and above)
Objective
Design and build a fully autonomous sumo robot weighing up to 1kg.
Develop intelligent algorithms for opponent detection, navigation, and attack strategies.
Integrate downward-facing line sensors for real-time Dohyo edge detection to prevent self-elimination.
Demonstrate precision engineering, robust mechanical design, and efficient programming.

TEAM
Each team can consist of one (1) – two (2) people.
Each team should nominate up to 1 Robot contestant. Only the Robot contestant is allowed in the waiting area or play area. The rest will remain in the team area or watch the game from spectators. If a team does not adhere to the above rule and its members roam the field then the team will be disqualified.
The team is allowed to change contestants in each round in order for all members of the team to engage in the sport without this being mandatory. A team cannot change its contestant during a match.
Each team is allowed to have only one robot. Changing robots during competition is strictly prohibited.
If a team has a serious problem with their robot they are only allowed to change the microprocessor or a faulty motor only after a round has ended, subject to permission from the Headjudges.
After the competition has started, changes to the programming and/or construction of the contestant's robot is no longer allowed.
ROBOT ATHLETE
The Robot Athlete must be autonomous.
Its maximum dimensions must be 20cm Width x 20cm Length with 1cm tolerance and its mass up to 1 kg.
To confirm specifications, the Robot Athlete will be weighed and must fit into a control box.
The control box measures 20 x 20 cm with 1cm tolerance.
The Athlete Robot should be placed in the control box without applying pressure and forward-facing (cannot be placed diagonally).
The Robot Athlete must not damage the track or pose a threat to spectators in any way.
For Robot Athletes only one microprocessor and 4 motors are allowed. Robots can have multiple AI vision cameras and sensors.
Robot Athletes cannot use Pullback motors.
Robot Athletes cannot use batteries above 7.4V.
TECHNICAL CONTROL
Technical inspection includes inspection of the robot according to the conditions described above. If it does not meet the specifications, it will not be allowed to compete and will be automatically disqualified from the event.
If a team is not in place during the technical inspection, this team will automatically be disqualified from the match.
The referee also does secondary technical control before each match.
ARENA
1. The Arena is 80 cm in diameter.
2. It has a 2.5cm thick white painted frame around the perimeter.

Participants are required to:
Build an autonomous robot with a maximum weight of 1kg.
Ensure the robot complies with the official size and safety regulations before inspection.
Program the robot to detect opponents and operate completely autonomously after the start signal.
Navigate within the Dohyo while avoiding self-elimination.
Push, lift, or force the opponent outside the boundary of the ring.
Complete all matches following the official tournament format and referee decisions.
Comply with all competition rules regarding safety, prohibited mechanisms, and fair play.
Learning Objective/Purpose
The goal of the Robot Athletes is to take the opponent out of the battle on the specially designed wrestling track and be considered the winner.
There is a time limit of 1 minute in each match.
Wrestling, as a sport, does not require the injury or destruction of the opponent, but only his displacement from track. This can only be done by pushing the opponent with the robot's main body, just like two human wrestlers would fight.
In such a case the Robot Athlete who violates the core values will be excluded and the opponent will be declared the winner.

Field Procedures
COMPETITION
GENERAL INFORMATION - RULES
WRESTLING ROUND
Contestants will be having one-on-one matches against other wrestling robots.
Each round will last 1 minute. A round ends early if:
When one of the two Robot Athletes knocks the other out of the arena (80% out of the Robot Athlete).
If one of the two Robot Athletes is no longer able to continue in the competition.
If the referee decides as a penalty to one of the two Robot Athletes to give the victory to the opponent.
If one of the two Robot Athletes exits the arena on their own for any reason (80% out of the Robot Athlete) .
It is considered a tie if neither Robot Athlete manages to knock the other off the track during the one minute match.
The contestant with the highest score will be the competition winner. In the case of a tie in score, the following rules will determine who is the tiebreaker winner:
The shortest average time wins
The least number of losses wins
The organizers and head judges retain the right to change the above matching during the competitions to ensure smooth operations.
DEFEAT
If a contestant touches their Robot Athlete during a match. Victory will be given to the opponent Robot Athlete.
If a Robot Athlete exits the arena on its own for any reason.
If the referee decides as a penalty to a Robot Athlete.
MATCH PREPARATION - RESTRICTIONS
Contestants place their Robot Athlete wherever they want. Each Robot Athlete must cover the white line / ring, at least partially. (refer to figure below)
Robot Athletes must be able to see the separator and not make any movement until it is removed from the referee.
The Referee signals the contestant to get their robots to go into standby.
After activating the robots, the contestant should move away from the arena at least one step back for protection.
The Referee counts down “3, 2, 1, Go!” and raises the separator.
Robot Athletes should start moving immediately the moment the referee lifts the separator.
If a Robot Athlete does not start moving within 5 seconds then it is considered to have lost the match and a victory is given to the opponent.

What is allowed and what is prohibited for Secondary & Adult category:
Be allowed:
The autonomous extension of the Robot towards the left, right or laterally after the start of the match.
Cleaning the wheels with wet cleaning cloths or cleaning fluid and paper.
Not allowed:
Robots use parts that can harm their opponents.
The use of adhesives (cleaning wheels with tapes: welding, electrical, packaging which may leave glue on the wheels or suction cup), to increase adhesion.
The tires and other parts of the robot that come into contact with the ring must not be able to pick up and hold a standard A4 paper (80 g/m2) for more than two seconds.
Devices to increase downward force such as vacuum pumps and magnets.
Breaking the Athlete Robot into pieces during the match to deceive the opponent.
The use of thread, twine, string or any kind of rope in the construction of the robot to avoid being trapped in the movement of the opponent.
Remote control except for the Primary category.
The robot is connected (bluetooth, wifi, etc.), to a computer, phone and any other electronic device during the race. In such a case the team will be permanently banned from the competition and the referee will award victory to the opposing team.
