RoboSport - Bottle Wrestling

The objective in this event is to push the bottles out of a circular wrestling ring using AI (Artificial Intelligence) . Each match lasts for 2 minutes, and victory is achieved by forcing the correct bottles out of bounds using only the robot's body, mimicking real human sumo wrestling tactics.

Age Categories

Junior Primary (7 - 9 years old)
⁠High Primary (10 - 12 years old)
Junior Secondary (13 - 15 years old)
High Secondary (16 - 19 years old)
Adult (20+ years old)

Purpose

The goal of the Robot Athletes is to take the scoring bottles out of the arena, the fastest and most accurate robot will be considered the winner.

There is a time limit of 2 minutes in each match.

Task/Mission

***Attention participants! CIPTRIX can provide rental equipment for Robotics and Drones, however participants will need to bring their own laptops and Internet access.

Team

  1. Each team can consist of one (1) – two (2) people.

  2. Each team is allowed to have only one robot. Changing robots during competition is strictly prohibited.

  3. If a team has a serious problem with their robot they are only allowed to change the microprocessor or a faulty motor only after permission from the judges.


ROBOT ATHLETE - ATHLETE CATEGORY

The Robot Athlete must be autonomous .

  1. Its maximum dimensions must be 20cm Width x 20cm Length with 1cm tolerance and its mass up to 1 kg.

  2. To confirm specifications, the Robot Athlete will be weighed and must fit into a control box.

  3. The control box measures 20 x 20 cm with 1cm tolerance.

  4. The Athlete Robot should be placed in the control box without applying pressure.

  5. The Robot Athlete must not damage the track or pose a threat to spectators in any way.

  6. The Robot Athlete must have a start and stop button.

  7. For Robot Athletes only one microprocessor and 4 motors are allowed. Robots can have  4 sensors.

  8. Robot Athletes cannot use Pullback motors.

  9. Robot Athletes cannot use batteries above 7.4V.

3D Printed / Structural Parts – Shields & Extensions  

  • Robot Athletes are allowed to include 3D printed parts or other structural plastic classified materials for protective shields and extensions at the front, rear, and/or sides.

  • At the start of the match, the Robot Athlete must fit entirely inside the official control box (20 × 20 cm, tolerance ±1 mm).

  • After the start, the Robot Athlete may expand forward, backward, and/or sideways, but the maximum overall dimensions must never exceed 30 × 30 × 30 cm when in full extension on all sides.

  • Shields and extensions may be mechanical or deployable (e.g., lowered, expanded, or unfolded upon activation).

  • Shields and extensions must not be white in color, in order to avoid interference with arena line markings and sensors.

  • The maximum weight limit of 1 kg remains in effect, including all shields, extensions, and additional parts.

  • All shields and extensions must be safe: no sharp edges, no dangerous parts, and no elements that damage or wear down the arena surface.

  • If, after the start of the match, the referee determines that the Robot Athlete does not comply with the specifications stated in the rules, they have the right to disqualify the team from the event.


Technical Inspection

​1. The initial technical inspection will take place on the day of the Games at a place and time to be determined by the organizers.

2. Technical inspection includes inspection of the robot according to the conditions described above. If he does not meet the specifications, he will not be allowed to compete and will be automatically disqualified from the event.

3. If a team is not in place during the initial scrutineering, this results in the team being automatically disqualified from the match.

4. The assistant referee also conducts a secondary technical check before each match attempt.


ARENA
  1. The Arena  is 80 cm in diameter.

  2. It has a 2.5cm thick white painted frame around the perimeter.

Field Procedures

COMPETITION RULES

WRESTLING ROUND

  1. Contestants will be having matches against multiple bottles on the field.

  2. The bottles will be separated into two distinct QR codes and colors (red and green), ONLY one QR code and color will be the 'scoring' bottle, and the other will be the 'deduction' bottle. Which bottle will be the scoring bottle will only be announced on the competition day. The goal will be focus solely on pushing the scoring bottles out of the arena.

  3. The number of bottles on the field will range from 3 to 5, and will only be announced on the competition day.

  4. The number of scoring and deduction bottles will only be announced on the competition day. (It is to be expected that there will be at least 1 deduction bottle)

  5. A bottle is considered 'pushed out' if there are no parts of the bottle inside of the white circle from top view.

  6. A bottle is not considered 'pushed out' if the bottle is touching the white line.

  7. After a bottle is 'pushed out', the referee will remove the bottle from the field.

  8. Each round includes 2 matches lasting two (2) minutes. A match ends early if: 

    1. When the last scoring bottle gets pushed out of the arena while the robot does not come into contact with the deduction bottle.

    2. If the Robot Athlete is no longer able to continue in the competition.

    3. If the Robot Athlete exits the arena on their own for any reason (80% out of the Robot Athlete).

    4. If the Robot is completely unable to detect any bottles after returning to its original position for more than 5 times consecutively.

    5. If the robot does not start moving within 10 seconds after the referee said "3,2,1 Go!".

  9. The contestant with the highest score will be the competition winner. In the case of a tie in score, the following rules will determine who is the tiebreaker winner:

    1. The shortest time wins

    2. The least number of deduction wins



MATCH PREPARATION - RESTRICTIONS


  1. Contestants must place their Robot behind the colored line facing forwards (facing perpendicular to the line).

  2. The Referee signals the contestant to get their robots to go into standby.

  3. After activating the robots, the contestant should move away from the arena at least one step back for protection.

  4. The Referee counts down “3, 2, 1, Go!” .

  5. Robot Athlete should have a 3-second delay before starting the moment the referee lifts the separator.

  6. If a Robot Athlete does not start moving within 10 seconds then it is considered to have end the match.



BAN A TEAM:


In the following cases the team is excluded from the competition and will have to withdraw. Team results are not considered and are not included in the list of competition results. If any of the following occurs during a round, then the opposing team wins for the entire round.

  1. If the team's robot does not follow the requirements specified in the competition rules.

  2. If the Robot Contestant behaves in an inappropriate or indecent manner, curses or provokes or verbally or otherwise attacks the opponent or the referees.

  3. If the contestant intentionally injures the opponent.

  4. If it is detected that the robot does not work autonomously but with remote control, bluetooth, wifi etc.

​WHAT IS ALLOWED AND WHAT IS PROHIBITED:


Allowed


  • The autonomous extension of the Robot towards the left, right or laterally after the start of the match.

  • ​Cleaning the wheels with wet cleaning cloths or cleaning fluid and paper.


Not Allowed


  • The use of adhesives (cleaning wheels with tapes: welding, electrical, packaging which may leave glue on the wheels or suction cup), to increase adhesion.

  • The tires and other parts of the robot that come into contact with the ring must not be able to pick up and hold a standard A4 paper (80 g/m2) for more than two seconds.

  • Devices to increase downward force such as vacuum pumps and magnets.

  • The use of thread, twine, string or any kind of rope in the construction of the robot to avoid being trapped in the movement of the opponent.

  • The robot is connected (bluetooth, wifi, etc.), to a computer, phone and any other electronic device during the race. In such a case the team will be permanently banned from the competition and the referee will award victory to the opposing team.

  • The autonomous extension of the Robot Athlete after starting the race on its front and back. Any type of extension that extends in any way to the front or back of a Robotic Athlete build will not be accepted by Technical control.

  • The use of pneumatics.

  • Using pullback engines in any competition.

  • The shield or extensions on Robot Athletes to be white color.

Objection

  • Referee decisions are not subject to teams' objections. In case of disagreements or opposing opinions, the referees have the final say in cooperation with the Head judges and the Organizing Committee.

  • In the event that a specific competition category or round is conducted over multiple days or involves multiple attempts, the Organizer reserves the absolute right to determine the most appropriate scoring methodology to identify the winner(s).

  • In all CIPTR1X competition, Rule ZERO applies, which states:

  •  ➤ "If you are not sure whether something is allowed, then it is probably NOT allowed."

  • All rules are based on common sense, the spirit of the competition, and the safety of all participants.

  • Any deliberate misinterpretation, violation of the meaning of the rules, or attempt to exploit gray areas for unfair advantage will not be tolerated and may lead to team disqualification from the competition.
